But the tax system unfairly advantages the wealthy, which widens the gap between them and the rest of us. That’s why Just Recovery DC has launched the All in for DC: A Tax System for Justice campaign: to ask the wealthy to go all in for DC, too.
Back to normal is not enough
Even before the pandemic, there was a huge gap between DC’s largely white, wealthier residents and the disproportionately Black and brown residents struggling to get by. By building a tax code for the rest of us, we can tackle inequality and ensure everyone can share in DC’s prosperity.
